Why Lidwell

Why hide an object you use every day?

Most bins are made to be tolerated: thin plastic lids, pedals that squeak, a bag rim folded over the edge. We make vessels with furniture proportions, materials that age well and mechanisms you can repair, so the one in your kitchen can sit beside the cabinetry it shares a room with.

01

Furniture proportions

Sized and finished to sit beside cabinets, counters and stone.

02

Honest materials

Solid wood, cast stone, steel through and through. No veneers.

03

Quiet mechanics

Damped lids and weighted bases. Nothing clatters or slides.

04

Repairable

Every moving part is fastened, not glued, and sold as a spare.

Repair

A spring should never be the reason a vessel is thrown away.

Pedals, dampers, hinges, feet and buckets are fastened with stainless screws. Each is sold as a spare at close to cost, and replaces with the hex key in the box.
